Motions
approved:
Grant
request from Art department for painting a mural on campus. Possible
sites are the foreign language building and the music building,
(still needs school district approval) up to$500. Motion to approve,
all approve.
Grant
Requst from math department, for tutors before and after school for "Algebra Recovery". Amount requested $4,500-$6,000. Motion to
approve $4,500 for tutors, all approved. Math department requested
$1,000 for 100 scientific calculators for students to check out like
library books 6 weeks at a time. Motion to approve $500 for 50
calculators. All approved.

Report:
Donna
Hope reports there was a practice code red drill, police officers
came to observe. Los Gatos High School currently does not practice
such drills, and the Los Gatos police were also present and would
like to implement the code red at Los Gatos High. Donna also talked
about how we now have 2 circle drop off areas on campus. This is
working out well. On collaboration days Leigh is having paid
consultants to take a look at the teacher's lesson plans and offer
advice.

Body Report:
Amanda
reported that the blood drive had over 86 donations. The homecoming
theme this year is "7 Deadly Sins".

Rep:

Mote reports Thank you hospitality for the teacher treats in the
teacher room on 10/21/09. Very much appreciated by all teachers.
There was a code red drill this week. John also reported how much a
safe drop off is necessary for safety before and after school. He
would like to see a program or channel to help out families with the
loss of loved ones, homeless, and loss of jobs etc.

College/Career:
We are
having a great year! Over 25 volunteers have been trained. Coming to
Leigh is reps from UC Santa Barbara, Biola, FIDM, San Jose State.
Parents and students are encouraged to come. On Oct 29th
is the Freshman/Sophomore college night at 6:30pm in cafeteria.
ESCRIP:
Todd
Mendenhal reports that Escrip enrollment is up from 241 to 271. We
need more to sign up. Ask friends and family to sign up and add Leigh
high school
Parent
Education:
Sherri
Shearin is working on a speaker from Stanford Education Department.
The speaker she would like is Denise Clark-Pope to speak on "Stress
level on our kids".
Also
considering having the "Saso's" come back and speak on teen
depression.
PAPA:
Marching Band had competition in Cupertino. They will be performing at our
Homecoming. Wind Ensemble going to San Francisco. Rummage sale and
Ewaste fundraisers were fun and successful.
Grad
Night:
Will be
at Scandia Fun Center in Rohnert Park. Currently in the process of
booking 5 buses.
New
Business:
Need a
parent rep to go to district financial advisory committee.
Newsletter
went out by mail and its on the website. It is published quarterly.
Prospect
High School does "Open House" with students giving tours to show
info about their school. Should Leigh do this too?
