Leigh High Home and School Club

Dear Leigh Families:

Where did the summer go? The start of the school year is right around the corner and the beginning of another exciting year for Leigh High School’s three booster clubs: the Home and School Club, Sports Boosters, and the Performing Arts Parents Association. As President of the Home and School Club, I want to invite each and every one of you to join us at our Home and School Club meetings and become involved in your child’s school. Your student may have begged you not to get involved but we invite you to become a member and get involved anyway! For your convenience, the locations and meeting times for these three booster clubs are listed on the back of this letter.

Attention Freshmen Parents: Please join me at the “Welcome Back Coffee for Parents” during Freshmen Orientation (August 15^th, 2011 from 8:00am to 9:30am in the Library)

Leigh High School Home and School Club (Leigh HSC) exists to create a fundraising and volunteer arm for the school to augment funds and support your child’s school experience. Todd Mendenhall is this year’s Home and School Club President and he invites you to become a member and join him on the third Tuesday of the month in the library to discuss the fundraising efforts and distribution of those funds as well as other items of concern to the Leigh community. Our Membership Drive and eScrip are our primary fundraising vehicles for supporting programs like: the College and Career Center, Parent Education Nights, our HSC Scholarship program, Student Counseling services, and Staff Grants to name a few. Operating under the umbrella of Home and School Club are 2 other amazing organizations that exist to enrich and support your child’s high school experience and they are Sports Boosters and PAPA. Please read on to find out how these amazing organizations benefit our school and how you can get involved. And remember… your band student in the fall may be an athlete in the spring and your fall athlete may perform in one of the PAPA events in the winter and spring!

Sports Boosters is a parent organization that supports all boys and girls sports at Leigh High School. Mitch Vierra is this year’s Sport Booster president and invites you to get involved and attend their meetings to support Leigh Sports programs. Our purpose is to promote awareness of, and participation in, all aspects of all school sports. We are governed by our by-laws and meet the second Tuesday of the month in the library. We work closely with school administration, the athletic director and all coaches. We need volunteers constantly to help in many areas. Please consider getting involved, we cannot survive without parent participation. For additional information visit our website, http://www.leighathletics.com and follow the booster link.

The Performing Arts Parent Association (PAPA) is the booster organization for the performing arts programs at Leigh High School. Dave Manley is this year’s PAPA President, and PAPA’s goal is to support, finance and encourage students in a learning environment to foster meaningful cultural experiences in the performance, understanding, and appreciation of the discipline of performing arts. Through our donation and fundraising funded budget, PAPA finances and enables many performing arts programs to achieve a level they would not be able to under the current school funding; For example, our award winning competitive Marching Band.

PAPA is a long standing organization on campus, hosting many events that have become traditions in our Leigh community, including the annual Crab Feed each February and the Leigh Rummage Sale every September. Working with the HSC and other boosters like Sports Boosters, we serve the Leigh community to support all of our children; what would the football game be with out pep band!
